stem cells therapy Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a progressive disease of the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord and optic nerve) that affects the ability of the brain to send and receive messages. It is believed to be a consequence of the dysfunction of the immune system. Inflammation occurs when myelin, the protective insulation that surrounds the nerve fibers of the central nervous system, is broken down. Myelin is destroyed and replaced by scars from hardened tissue spots. If myelin is damaged, nerve impulses are not transmitted quickly and efficiently.

The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are very different and affect twice as many women as men. They may include:

    • fatigue
    • visual disturbance
    • Loss of balance and muscle coordination
    • Indistinct speech
    • trembling and stiffness
    • bladder and bowel problems
    • difficulty walking (balance or walking) and in severe cases paralysis.

Although there is currently no treatment to cure MS, stem cell therapy in adults is a promising new approach to treating the disease cycle. Okyanos offers the ability to treat debilitating MS symptoms while repairing the nerve cells using the powerful healing mechanisms of the stem cells in your adipose tissue.

Stem cell therapy for MS: How does it work?

Your body fat contains an abundant source of adult stem cells known as mesenchymal stem cells or MSC. These powerful healing cells not only stimulate the repair of nerve tissue, but also help immediately calm inflammation and prevent the further death of nerve cells. Clinical research has shown that MSCs migrate into damaged myelin zones of brain tissue and repair these protectors of the CNS.

In addition, MSCs can also detect changes in the body that cause pain or dysfunction and respond to and communicate with local environmental needs to provide the right tools for healing. Simply put, adult stem cell therapy can immediately alleviate the debilitating symptoms while working on a longer-term strategy for healing and repair. Adult stem cells are generally referred to as “repair cells” because they can heal injured tissues, organs or body parts.
The main functions are:

    • Reduced inflammation
    • Stimulated cell and tissue regeneration
    • Prevention of further cell death
    • Reduction of scar tissue that prevents normal organ function Reduction of scar tissue that prevents normal organ function
    • Creation of new blood vessels

The Okyanos doctors use a specially developed Okyanos protocol to open the blood-brain barrier and support the delivery of stem cells directly to the brain. A technique that has been proven effective in independent studies. In this way, doctors can specifically access stem cells in the brain to restore blood flow, repair damaged nerve cells (neurons), support myelin recovery, and stop future progression of symptoms. Improvements observed in MS patients treated with stem cells include stopping the progression of lesions as confirmed by MRI.
